- Focus on adult entertainment
- Most members are looking for casual sex
For almost 15 years, Fling.com has been one of the first and most popular casual dating and hookup sites in the US and around the world. However, since for most users communication has moved into the mobile realm, Fling has started losing its popularity due to not having dedicated mobile apps. But is there still a good chance of successfully scoring a hookup on the site? Find out from our Fling.com review!
Full Fling Review
Fling is an adult dating site that was founded in 2006 and has been extremely popular with casual dating fans at one point. The focus of Fling.com has always been casual dating, hookups, and adult entertainment. Fling even has a related live webcam service, but in this review, we will tell you about the features, members, and prices of Fling.com.
Fling claims to have over 3 million users, but it’s not clear whether the site counts on currently active profiles or everyone who has ever signed up for the service. You don’t need to spend a lot of time on Fling.com to realize that most of its members are men looking for casual dating partners, although there is a certain number of women looking for the same things.
In many Fling.com reviews, we have seen concerns about the authenticity of Fling members, and after researching the site ourselves, we have our doubts too. Some members look too good to be true, are listed in very remote locations, or actively try to get in touch with you even though you have little to no information or photos on your profile.
Signing Up at Fling
The home page of Fling.com tries to lure you in with pictures of attractive people who are supposedly Fling members, but you cannot visit their profiles or do anything else on the site unless you create your account. Signing up for Fling will take you a couple of minutes and you will need to answer standard dating site questions.
Once you are a member of Fling, you will be asked to complete your profile with a photo and a short list of your dating preferences, but you can easily skip those steps if you want to move on directly to exploring the site.
Design and Usability
It has been a decade since Fling.com was founded, and while the site has clearly gone through at least one update since its launch, it also looks noticeably obsolete compared to newer and more modern casual dating sites.
Fling has a matching system, where the system shows you a selection of women’s profiles and you need to mark every profile where the woman caught your attention. Apparently, Fling.com will use your selection to show you members who match your preferences.
The main menu of Fling is located in the top part of the site. From there, you can access several types of search, see members who are currently online, view your chats, see who and what is trending now, and check out Fling’s webcam site. Using the same top menu, you can upgrade or edit your profile, view your latest messages, and check out your notifications.
User Account Features
There are numerous fields you can fill in when creating your Fling.com account, but since you can skip some or all of them, many members prefer to do the same. As a result, while some profiles on the site are incredibly detailed and contain not only answers to generic questions, but also a custom-written introduction and description of the member’s tastes and goals, others look downright empty.
There are several ways to contact the members of Fling.com if you are interested, but most of them are only available to paying members. You can add the member to your Favorites or Friends, invite them for a chat, send them a message through the mail, or like them to express your interest.
At Fling.com, everything is designed to turn you into a paying user as soon as possible. As a free member, you cannot even view other people’s profiles, let alone communicate with other members, use extended search, or access other features of Fling.
The only way to enhance your Fling.com experience is a Gold membership. A single month of Gold membership on Fling costs $34.95, but you can pay for just 2 or 7 months if you just want to take a look at the site and its members, or opt for a 12-month membership if you intend to become a regular and want to save money on each month.
Is Fling a scam?
To answer this question, we spent a lot of time evaluating the profiles on Fling, and we came to the conclusion that a substantial part of the profiles on Fling.com is fake. It’s not clear whether they are created by the site itself to boost the activity of members and make them pay, or they are run by third parties, but the fact that Fling does not seem to take any actions to remove them from the site tells us you cannot fully trust the service.
Is Fling safe?
Normally, any dating site with fake profiles and messages cannot be called 100% safe, since there is always a chance your personal information on the site will get into the wrong hands and you won’t be able to do anything about it.
There isn’t much information on how to keep yourself safe during your time on Fling.com, but we did like the presence of Safe mode and Discreet mode. Safe mode allows you to stop explicit photos from appearing in your search results, and Discreet mode doesn’t allow anyone outside of your Friends list to view your profile.
Does Fling have a mobile app?
No, Fling does not have a mobile app either for Android or iOS platforms. If you search Fling on App Store or Google Play Store, you may find similarly named apps, but they are not connected to Fling.com in any way. Right now, you can only use the mobile browser version on your smartphone.
- Lots of NSFW imagery on the site
- Most features are for paying users only
- Fake profiles and activity
- Dated look of the website
